Terung Durian
Terung is another rare durian of Penang. Terung is the Malay word for brinjal. Also commonly known as eggplant or aubergine.
The durian got it’s name from it’s weird elongated shape of the husk.

But the notoriety of this durian has very little to do with the appearance of it’s husk. It has to do with it’s taste.
This is one heavily alcoholic tasting durian. And you would be able to sense that gas the moment you put it into your mouth as the sensation goes up your nose almost immediately.

This takeover of your sense of taste can be so intense that you might not notice any durian taste at all. This is not due to the lack of it, but due to the bold alcoholic flavour burst.
The durian taste will come back when you take a few more bites and your tastebuds have had a chance to come to terms with terung’s unique flavour.
For this reason, terung is best left alone and served like a dessert. If you mix it up with other durians, it can affect how the other durians taste like.
