338 Durian
338 is a durian the embodies characteristics from many different famous durian.
The husk don’t look attention seeking. And could very well pass off as some kampung durian. Technically, it is considered as a kampung durian as it’s non-registered.
But when you open it, you might be shocked to see what’s inside.
The contours of the fruitlets can resemble that of horlor, the colour of the flesh will remind you of Khun Poh, the wrinkles can make you think about D11, and even the core of the durian has a central ridge that is reminiscent of Tekka.
Take a look at this durian and I simply will not believe that there is someone who wouldn’t want to take a bite out of it.
Does the taste live up to the hype?
When you put a relatively unknown durian up against some of the most famous durians of around, reality will most definitely fall short of expectations. Which is why I think the visual appeal of 338 works against it. It causes unfair burden on it’s shoulders.
338 is not a durian known for a powerful taste like green skin. It is more known for it’s unique floral aroma.
The mother tree belongs to a farm that has a storefront along the winding road that links Bayan Lepas and Balik Pulau.
