D28 Durian Is The Butter King
D28 is a durian with very large thorns. It looks very similar to D14 of Penang, and there are durian sellers who insist that they are the same durian. But there are also those who think that D14 and D28 are not the same durian.
So it’s really up to debate whether they are the same. There is still no consensus even after so many years of deliberating. It will probably remain a mystery for a very long time.

D28 is often known as big bun, and more commonly called butter king because the texture feels like butter in the mouth. In Mantin, it is known as Da Hong (大红).

The fruitlets are large and can come with a strong bitterness.
D28 is usually only found during the main durian season and are often used for promotions as they are lower costs and the huge pulps of flesh can make it appear a good value-for-money purchase to consumers.
