Labu is a kampung durian that has a husk almost perfectly resembling a gourd.

It should not be confused with horlor from Penang which is also called labu. Horlor is much more famous and is also a registered durian with the number D163.

The only thing that is somewhat similar with it’s infamous counterpart is the long stem which D163 also tends to spot.

This labu shown here has a very circular body, and tightens to a narrow top near the stem. Creating a shape of a gourd.

The thorns are fine and slim. A little like D226, but slimmer.

The husk has a “red heart” like tekka. But it is not as tough to open as tekka.

The aril is a faded yellow that can appear orange to some people.

It’s a sweet durian with mild durian flavour.
