San Mao Durian Resembles A Rambutan
San mao (山茂) actually refers to a species of wild flowers found in the mountains with petals the resembles hair flowing in the wind.
This also resembles that of the hair on rambutans.

San mao durian is named as such because the thorns are slim and thin. Which makes it look like the form of rambutan from far away.

The aril on the fruitlets are faded beige in colour. More towards white than yellow. Also somewhat looking like the flesh of rambutan fruit after you peel it.
The taste is mostly bittersweet. And can be quite potent during peak season.
